Frequently Asked Questions
(1) I'm trying to stop erosion
on the banks of my pond. The banks have been recently reworked and are bare and steep. I
have planted Bahia but it doesn't seem to be germinating very well. Can you recommend a
seed that will germinate quickly and help hold the soil together.

- Answers to FAQ's |
(1) Bahiagrass takes 30+ days to germinate...
So in most cases what people do is plant Brown top millet in the same area as the
Bahia.... The brown top will germinate fast 10 days... and since it is an annual...
it will die out later in the year. In the mean time the Bahia will fill in and
replace the millet later this summer...That also controls the erosion problems
better... When you see little strips
coming up along a road where DOT has replanted...
it is usually the brown top for erosion purposes that you are seeing! PS: We
sell brown top millet at our store - www.seedland.com
