TifQuik is a rapid seed germinating bahia grass that has been developed for the Southeastern USA. TifQuik has the following features that are not present in other popular bahia grasses such as Argentine, Pensacola, and Tifton 9:

TifQuik's faster germination rate means that forage growers will benefit from a bahia grass that covers earlier allowing a jump on weeds and an extended forage production season.

Grazing Management Of TifQuik Bahia Grass

TifQuik is not tolerant of overgrazing and this will cause some loss of grass and encroachment of weeds. Grazing management should allow for a re-growth of 6 inches between grazing. Rotational grazing is recommended with TifQuik bahia.

TifQuik Bahia Hay Production

TifQuik dry matter yields were 2 times higher than Tifton 9 and 4 times higher than Pensacola in field trials.  Hay harvests may be made several times during the growing season of TifQuik bahia grass. The digestibility of TifQuik Bahia grass may decrease and fungal leaf diseases may affect the stand if the forage is allowed to grow rank.  Thus if weather impedes hay harvests then arrangements for grazing or mowing should be implemented.

Planting Date: Spring -Mid-Summer
Planting Depth: 1/8 - 1/4 inch, Do Not plant any deeper or seed will not germinate.
Seeding Rate: 25 To 30 Lb/acre.
